Copper prices have tripled in the last couple of years, so if cables are cheap it will be because there is less copper in them than there should be. One easy way to skimp is to use an inferior data cable, which uses fewer strands of copper in a VGA cable, rather than using proper Coaxial cable for the red, green and blue cables.
