Digital Signage
Digital Signage is a method of displaying a message to a wider audience, via means of projected image or flat panel display. The general public are becoming used to seeing advertising messages or signs via printed media. Digital signage takes that and expands its capabilities for the 21st century. All digital signage applications require a form of software that allow the user to create and display various messages. In many cases this software is built into a specialised piece of hardware or in some cases can be incorporated into the display device itself, although this is limited currently to Flat Panel Displays.

Flat Panel Displays
At first these appear to similar to domestic Plasma and LCD Televisions. However commercial screens often have different inputs and have additional standard features such as loop through and the ability to be used in a video wall. For further details see the section on Flat Panel Displays.
Projection
Increasing digital signage is being conveyed via a projector. Projectors often have an advantage in that the image can be a lot larger than a flat panel display.
