Features

Split Screen

The split screen feature allows the operator to split the screen into two or more parts and have different information, images, video, live TV, or data in these separate sections. For instance in a reception area the screen could be showing the news in one section with a welcome message to a visiting customer on the other half of the screen.

Ticker Tape

Ticking Tape is often seen on 24 hour news channels or as subtitles on TV programmes. It allows a message to appear (normally at the bottom of the screen) and continually scroll along. The ticker tape can appear as a separate long thin narrow picture in picture, or as a text appearing on top of an existing image.

*

Calenderisation / Scheduling

Calenderisation will appear under numerous names. This feature allows the operator to create content in advance and then schedule it to appear at set times in the future. For instance if a company has a set time and day of the week to test fire alarms, a warning can be scheduled to appear in advance and during the test warning that it is about to take place.

*

Multi screen

Multi Screen is similar to split screen and allows the user to effectively see the images from a number of sources on one screen, often seen in CCTV monitoring centres where the user can have one large screen rather than a number of smaller ones.

*

Video Wall

In order to create a larger image it is possible to join multiple Commercial Flat Panel Displays together to create a significantly larger screen and therefore a much larger image. These walls are created in multiples of two for example a 2 x 2 video wall of 40" LCD panels would create a screen 80" wide comprising of 4 screens. Video walls allow the operator to create an image far larger than the largest individual screens currently available. When creating a video wall either the screens themselves or the digital signage package will be able to increase the size of the image so that it fill the entire area rather than having the image repeated over each of the individual screens.

*

Speed of Response

Compared to traditional printed media changing the image or message being conveyed via digital signage is as quick as typing a message in your pc or pressing the play button on a DVD player. This allows the operator to respond quickly to changing circumstances and requirements. For instance in a school environment classroom changes can be displayed as soon as a problem occurs. Health and safety warnings can be issued in seconds etc.

*

Tailorisation

Tailorisation allows messages to be altered and created to suit the immediate environment and requirements.

*

End User Operation

Depending on the package used many digital signage systems are very easy to use, therefore highly professional imagery and messages can be created without the need for highly skilled and paid advertising and marketing input.

*

Multiple Messages

With traditional printed media, the image will need to be kept constant for a long period of time, it is not possible or practical to change a large poster every few days. However with digital signage multiple messages can appear at any one time and by the use of scheduling can be changed constantly during the day. Therefore the operator can tailor the message to suit the audience at a particular time of day. This greatly increase the impact and therefore profitability of the message.
